The auction was a great success! After paying most of the bills, it looks like we will have a little over $77,000 to dedicate to Talk About Trees. This is an increase of about $8,000 from last year. Many thanks to our awesome donors and at-tendees that came to the event!

The Browning rifles with a custom carrying case were won by Teresa Ray from Rainier.

Paul and Robert Wampler, Inc. of Klamath Falls won the “Partners in Education” fundraiser which brought in $7,600. We sold 4 more tickets than last year. The winning ticket was drawn at the Friday evening OLC Cocktail Party & Dance. OWIT will present to the OLCF scholarship program with a check for $3,800. We also presented to Judy Nygaard’s Dessert for Dreams cause, Play Smart, half of the proceeds from our Nike Shopping Spree and Trail Blazer Tickets in the amount of $675.

We had many great donations including a check for $5,000 from The NW Ford Dealers Advertising Association. They have donated a total of $86,000 to OWIT since 2002. Please remember to thank your local Ford dealer next time you visit a dealership.

The OLC School Tours were wonderfully organized by Beth Krisko with Forests Today & Forever. Talk About Trees facilitators were on hand to teach students about trees and forestry careers along with foresters, OLC board members and the awesome equipment, bringing what the students learned into perspective.

The Lane County Miss Oregon organization helped OWIT run the Bird Feeder Booth during the Saturday show. They had a great time and have asked to be a part of this event on an ongoing basis, bringing new and exciting ideas for next year. We look forward to promoting and working with this great group of young ladies!

We want to thank the Oregon Logging Conference for the opportunity to work with them each year to put on this event. Together we will continue to do great things and make a difference by supporting forestry education and the future of our industry.

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful OWIT ladies and Talk About Trees facilitators that dedicate their time and energy.

Respectfully,
Melissa Fullerton, OWIT co-president
